I've had atheists accuse me of being schizophrenic for stating that Christians can talk directly to God, and 'hear' (not always an audible response, of course) His response. Quite honestly, I'd much rather have a Best Friend that I can talk to, than have a silent, lonely life.
I really don't understand how atheists, agnostics, and others can go without Him, even now. If I grow away from God, even just a bit, I get an overwhelming sense of loneliness and despair.. so how can anyone who HASN'T known Him, not feel pain worse than what I experience? I mean, despite their claims that they do not believe in God, or that they feel they don't know if He exists, EVERY human has that knowledge deep down that tells them that God does exist. They only try to hide it, perhaps because they do not understand what God is trying to say to them.
It's saddening, because many atheists hate on God, even though they claim He doesn't exist. They slander Him by twisting His own words and taking them out of context, making Him look like an angry, vindictive God who commits mass genocide on those that He doesn't like. The saddest part of it all is that they are pushing away the fact that the same God who loved them enough to create and sustain them is the very One who came to earth as a man, to teach, and eventually suffer and bear our sins. After He rose from the grave, God the Trinity became our Best Friend, because Jesus was our first, and last, and only Bridge to the Father.
We, as Christians, need to strengthen our relationship with Him, and let Him do what He needs, to the point where we literally cannot live our lives without Him. We also need to make our relationship with Him a part of every aspect of our life. Leave nothing (that is N.O.T.H.I.N.G.) without the presence of God. When we live an aspect of our lives without God, we're destined to fail. And when our relationship with Him, our happy relationship with Him, is so integrated in our lives, it can really shine as a great example to others. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. He is faithful, He will not leave you. It's all our choice, He will not force Himself on us. Either we open our hearts up to Him, or we will not grow in Him.
