When I was just a kid, my family went to Niagara Falls in New York. The falls are roaring torrents of fresh water. Below the falls was a place called "Cave of the Winds", where you would be within the force of the wind and mist of the falls hitting the rocks.
My dad, brother, and I all went onto the platform by it. We all wore cheap ponchos to protect us from the water. The crowd was large, as many people like to see the area. I somehow got cut off from my dad and brother, and I was stuck by a railing for a while, while the wind blew the poncho up and I was soaked by the water. I was scared beyond belief, and I was attempting to help myself by making my way to the tour guide.
Then suddenly, I felt a hand pull the poncho back down, take my hand, and guide me out of the crowd. I didn't know at the time who it was, but I had thought it was my dad. Sure enough, it was him. He lead me out of the crowd, where we met up with my mom again.
In the same way, when we're caught in the wind and rain of life, and we've lost sight of where we should be going, and we try to help ourselves out of the mess but get caught up by the people in life, Jesus comes through the crowd, brings back the armour of God, and guides us through the wind, rain, and crowd, and into safety. No matter the size of the crowd, or the strength of the wind, or the amount of water, He will always come back to take our hand and lead us through every situation we face.
